The educational philosophy of the college is based on the theory of Human Caring, which in turn is based on human dignity and wisdom. Human Caring means that nurses respect human dignity and heal patients' agony, distress, fear, and anger through the use of the interpersonal process of caring. Nurses also help individuals to reach their highest level of growth, maturity, and health. At the same time, the caring process raises nurses' own level of growth.
All human life is equally respected and given high regard and reverence. Thus, the implementation of Human Caring requires understanding individuals' wholeness and uniqueness, not only their biological existence but also their cultural, social, and historical uniqueness. Moreover, Human Caring requires integration of concepts and theories with wisdom that has been passed on from generation to generation throughout human history.
Students learn the dignity and essence of human life. Students learn that the foundation of Human Caring is a holistic approach. For example, students learn about the human life cycle from birth to death, learn about and explore the quality of life and cultivate a humanistic sensitivity.
Students learn concepts and theories to understand human beings from a professional point of view. For example, students learn to synthesize mind and body to maintain, regain, or promote good health. Through their courses, students achieve the ability to collect data and analyze it, then develop critical thinking skills that are required in the scientific research process.
Students learn mutual relationships among human beings, society and nature. Human Caring emphasizes the importance of the interpersonal processes that transform every moment. Students learn communication skills and how to develop therapeutic relationships to promote each individual's wellness.
Students learn to implement nursing care skills with an approach that respects individual uniqueness. For example, students learn nursing skills that apply the concepts of humanity, wisdom, and relationships to a variety of health problems and situations. In their clinical practice, students synchronize their knowledge and nursing practice to enhance their understanding of human caring and nursing practice.
